GOVERNANCE & TRANSPARENCY

Heartland Development Foundation is committed to responsible governance, transparency, and stewardship in support of its charitable mission. The foundation operates as a nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and incorporated as a Virginia non-stock corporation. Through responsible oversight, collaboration, and long-term stewardship principles, the foundation works to support initiatives that strengthen local economies and community-serving assets.


Governance

Heartland Development Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors responsible for providing strategic oversight and ensuring that the organization operates in accordance with its charitable mission and applicable laws and regulations. The Board helps guide the foundation’s work while promoting responsible stewardship of resources entrusted to the organization.


Transparency

Heartland Development Foundation believes that transparency is an important component of nonprofit governance.

The foundation is committed to operating in a manner consistent with nonprofit best practices and applicable regulatory requirements.

As part of this commitment:

  • the organization maintains appropriate financial and operational records

  • required filings are submitted in accordance with applicable regulations

  • contributions are stewarded in support of the foundation’s charitable mission


Stewardship

Heartland Development Foundation seeks to promote responsible stewardship in the initiatives it supports. Through collaboration with municipalities, development professionals, and community stakeholders, the foundation works to help advance initiatives that encourage the highest and best use of community-serving assets.
